The New Edge: Arabesque Sheilas & Abayas Fall/Winter 2013 Collection

For Arabesque Sheila & Abayas' Fall/Winter 2013 collection, founder and designer Judith Duriez has looked to the future, using architectural lines and experimental layering techniques in earthy shades of grey-blue, ivory, ash, burgundy and pale lavender in a somewhat futuristic collection that Duriez has named "The New Edge."

A perfectly fitting title for the collection I must say, as the abayas have taken on simple, tailored silhouettes and are defined by their computer-generated hand embroidered cubist and futuristic designs. However, the designs are not harsh as they are softened by the sheer overlays of lightweight fabrics like silk chiffon, French lace and tulle. The abayas would be perfectly accessorized with edgy accessories such as gold, silver and metal chokers, rings and cuffs.

Also on offer are Duriez's signature glamorous abaya designs, abayas adorned in French floral laces, frills and corsages.

It's a collection that proves that Duriez is able to reinvent Arabesque Sheilas & Abayas every season.

Magie-Melis E-Boutique Now Online!

A pinch of the West and a sprinkle of the East makes up Turkish/Italian ladies evening wear brand Magie-Melis. This is the eponymous label of Turkish-born, Milan-based designer Magie Melis, and a sub-collection of her mother label Maison Melis Sayar. The label is dedicated to glamorous floor-length kaftans made from precious fabrics, with luxe details. Their aim is to make Neo-Classic pieces which appeal to their Middle Eastern clientle with European flair.

Maison Melis Sayar presents magie-melis and their Pret-a-Porter evening wear collection "melis" twice a year, in Paris and Milan.

Their next showing will be between September 29 – October 4 at the Hotel du Louvre, Paris.
